Villa Arrabida   

Just south of Lisbon is the peninsula of Setúbal with stunning coastal mountains; the Serra da Arrábida. In 1976 it became a park. It is 11,000 ha and has 6000 ha of sea. The mountains rise steeply from the sea and therefore appear to be much higher than they actually are. The top lies at 500 meters. The views are spectacular. In the North you can see Lisbon and in the south the ocean and the coast of the Alentejo. Large parts of the Arrábida are covered with low bushes and small trees, whose green are contrasting with the white or gray of the limestone. At the foot of the rocks you will find some beaches which are very popular by the residents of Lisbon and Setúbal. There is absolutely no mass tourism in this area.
